Chaitra Navratri & Kanya Pujan

Chaitra Navratri & Kanya Pujan

The auspicious festival of Chaitra Navratri (a nine-day Hindu festival) is celebrated across the world with great zeal. During this time the Goddess Durga is worshipped in each of her nine forms on each of the nine days. Our Schaumburg seniors celebrated Navratri all nine days. They did the garba, and arti every day. Our seniors dressed every day traditionally in colorful attire. They did the garba gracefully and enjoyed it. The Kanya Pujan was also performed on Ashtami to which the little girls were invited.  The completion of the auspicious festivities of Navratri comes with the ritual of Kanya Pujan (Worship of a Girl Child). Maa Durga is extremely pleased when young girls are worshipped as a representative of Herself. The ritual of Kanya Pujan is performed with utmost respect & devotion towards Maa Durga. Out of the nine days of Navratri, Kanya Pujan is done on either Ashtami (8th Day) or the Navami (9th Day).
